There are very few games out there where you just hack and slash and you get blood and guts to fly everywhere, Berserk is one of these games. But don't let the blood and guts discourage you from the game game, the best part of this game I believe is the storyline.

The storyline is so captivating and just lures you in, its almost like watching a movie. If you like hight action games Berserk is for you, there is plenty of slashing and events that keep the game moving. The graphics in the game are very impressive. The character look pretty close to that of what you would see in CG images. The movements and facial expressions are pretty good as well, especially the way the sword is animated. There are also many character on the screen at once. When you beat enough of them you'll go into berserk mode where character do minimal damage to you and your attacks count at two.

If you don't like videoclips or CG cutscenes you may be frustrated with Berserk, because they play a big role the story line, but if you like you can skip them. The sound in the game is dead on. All the character sound what they look like and the background music fits the scenes perfectly. There are a few character that show up with a bit of an annoying voice for some, but you don't hear from them much. But the main character voices were defiantly done by professionals which all games should follow, and you'll find out why when you play the game.

The control for the game is pretty simplistic, and after playing for a few minutes one will get the hang of it. To move you just use the joystick and A,and B for your sword attacks. And if your thinking awww, I can only do sword attacks, there's more. By holding the R trigger and pressitn X you can use fairy dust which replenishes your health. By holding R and Y, you can shoot your arm cannon, R+A will throw grenades, and R+B will shoot arrows.(You have unlimited arrows, but the sword is more powerful) There are also multiple paths and outcomes depending on what paths You take. Quick Time Events (QTE) can also effect the outcome of what You do next, in a QTE You press a certain button that flashes repetitively on the screen.

Overall the game is very exciting and fun. Some may not like the length of the game, though its a bit short there are some goodies for You to unlock once You beat the game. The mini games consist of battles and time challenges as well as others.
